What we sell, and what we will not
What you are buying
A report is an audit of one product's footprint across the directories we track, assembled from measurements we already hold. It is frozen when it is delivered, so what you bought does not change afterwards. Monitoring watches the same measurements and tells you when one of them moves.
A report that turns out to contain nothing is refunded the same day. Monitoring can be cancelled whenever you like and runs to the end of the period you paid for.
What is not for sale
A directory cannot pay for a better number, a higher position in the index, or a place in it. Placement is editorial. Directories can pay for a faster review of a submission or a fuller profile, and those are labelled where they appear.
Any link we grant in exchange for anything carries rel="nofollow", and paid placements carry rel="sponsored". A dofollow link is never sold or traded, including for a badge. We publish which directory links Google ignores, so trading our own would make the whole exercise worthless.
Accuracy
Every number is measured against real pages and stamped with the date and sample size behind it. We publish what we measured, including when it is unflattering to us: a directory we have not crawled is shown as unverified rather than left out, and a figure we have not sampled says so rather than showing a zero.
Measurement is not perfect. Selectors break, samples are samples, and a directory can change under us. If a number here is wrong, tell us and we will check it and correct the record rather than quietly editing history. See the methodology for how each one is produced.
Using the service
Do not use the scan or the audit to attack anyone, and do not scrape this site to rebuild the index. Both are the sort of thing we would rather ask about than police. The data behind your own product is yours: you can export it at any time, and that is deliberate.
Our crawler on your site
Two things of ours reach your site, both once and both politely, with an identifying user agent that links back here. The SEO audit fetches your home page, robots.txt and sitemap, and only because you asked it to. Enrichment fetches a product's home page to read its title, description and icon, so a listing we found on a directory has a name and a picture rather than a bare domain. Neither crawls your whole site, and both respect robots.txt.
The directory crawler is separate and reads directory listing pages only. If you run a directory and want us to stop, say so and we will, and we will record that we were asked rather than pretending the data was never there.
These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. That review is a blocking item before we sell at scale, and this page says so rather than implying otherwise.
